Should a Christian Consult Horoscopes? (Part 2 ) Blondie L. Clayton When you read your Horoscope daily what are you looking to know? You want to know what your day will be like. Will it be a good day or bad day? You want the answers ahead of time so that you know what your day is going to be like. Let’s look at the word “divination.” The dictionary defines it as: “The art or practice that seeks to foresee or foretell future events, or discover hidden knowledge.” If we stopped right there and didn’t go any further, your use of a Horoscope to foretell what is going to happen to you daily would fall in that category. I believe we can safely place it on the list of things God would not be pleased with. As a matter of fact, he says anyone who does these things are detestable to God. The future cannot be learned through Astrology. It is a false teaching, revealing a false future, giving false hope. There is something we can be assured of according to Ecclesiastes 7:2: “It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of everyone; the living should take this to heart.” Death is everyone’s destiny. That is our future. A Horoscope cannot change or impact your future. Whatever that Horoscope says about a particular sign is false. God can take the selfish heart and make it selfless. If you want to know what your day will bring, take into consideration that it could be your last day. A Horoscope does not reveal the coming of the end of days. Wouldn’t it be to your benefit to know the truth from the truth giver? According to John 5:24: “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.” Since we are destined to die, where should your focus be, on the daily lifeless Horoscope, or on eternal life? Over the years before I came into this knowledge, I felt I was domed to be my miserable self. My Horoscope could not provide a way out of my pitiful thinking. No matter what my Horoscope said it couldn’t change anything in my life. The change didn’t come until the day I became enlightened to the presence of God. Today I don’t rely on Horoscopes but on the Word of God, through faith in Jesus Christ as my Savior. Want to know more?
