This Amazing Story Changed The Course of My Life

I grew up hearing about Jesus, but I really didn’t know what role he played. I thought he was someone Christians believed in and not necessarily important to me. I was taught to pray to this invisible God when I was in trouble but I didn’t know about this Jesus.

What was interesting I was in church with no understanding of faith, Jesus and God. My life had always been what I decided to make it. Notice the “I.” What’s funny looking back, I experienced some supernatural happenings. I thought I was strange.

I recall making statements like this: “I’m from Missouri, show me.”  I could not accept the invisible, the supernatural. I thought it was spooky. Years later I was sitting in a Christmas Holiday luncheon as an insurance agent when the guest speaker of the hour took center stage.

He began to tell the story of how this baby Jesus was God’s gift to us. He talked about how mankind had continued to become immoral and that the evil state of man was facing the same consequences as the flood that wiped out the people of earth during Noah’s time. He shared that the reason baby Jesus came was to save us from future destruction, so that we would live forever as God’s special people.

That message caused something to sprout in my heart that day. I couldn’t get that story out of my mind. It haunted me for several weeks. During those weeks I began to ask the invisible God to show me him. From the story of the preacher, to a piece of paper he gave me, something amazing happened. . .
