Should a Christian Consult Horoscopes? (Part 1 )

Blondie L. Clayton

Are you a Christian who can’t start your day without consulting your horoscope? It’s a habit you have gotten into. Do you know that God sees you? He knows. Oops! I’m sorry I let the cat out of the bag. Nobody is suppose to know you still do that. What could be wrong with that, you say? Before I came into the knowledge of the Word of God on the subject, I did the same thing.

It’s God all the way, or not at all. The Bible says he is a jealous God (Exodus 20:5). He does not want us to pledge our alliances to, or glorify anything else under the Sun except him. Just like a child does not know that if he places his hand on a hot stove it will burn. He will only do it once. Afterwards, if he comes near the stole he will say, “Hot, hot.”

We live in a society that is morally decaying (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). It has become okay  to use profanity on public television, movies, etc. Women and men are baring all in magazines and the movies, involved in every type perversion. Everyone does his/her own thing and feel it’s okay as long as they are not hurting anyone.

I have come to accept that the Word of God has an answer for every situation we face in life. If we are uncertain of our actions, the Word of God is the place to go. That being said, let’s go to the Word of God to see what He has to say about what displeases Him when we look to Horoscopes for answers.

Deuteronomy 18: 10-15:

10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. 12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD; because of these same detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you. 13 You must be blameless before the LORD your God.

14 The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the LORD your God has not permitted you to do so. 15 The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him.

What does the Word of God say? Who should you listen to, according to this passage of scripture? Not those who claim to know: mediums, spiritist, or who consult the dead but the prophets of the Lord.  Does the use of a Horoscope fall into any of these categories?
